The child health nurses responsibility is not only to care of the physical, mental and emotional health from conception to maturity, but also to demonstrate concern for the social, environmental and cultural influences that are known to have considerable fallout on children and their families. Pediatric nurses are responsible for helping patients adapt to a hospital setting and prepare them for medical treatments and procedures. Nurses also coach parents to observe and wait for important signs and responses to therapies, to increase the child's comfort, and even to provide ongoing care. Nurses play an essential role in society today by being advocates for health promotion, educating the public and patients on preventing injury and illnesses, participating in rehabilitation, and providing care and support.
